Circular 14/24 Change: FBX Carrier Weighting Methodology Change & Consultation Summary
Family: Containers On 13 May 2024 The Baltic Exchange distributed a circular (13/24) seeking market feedback on the proposed change to the methodology of carrier weighting in the FBX daily indices.
The consultation ran until 27 May 2024, after which the feedback results were summarised in the attached document here and presented to the Baltic Exchange Information Council (BEISL) with recommendations for their consideration.
The Baltic recommended, and BEISL approved, that the FBX methodology be changed from a weighted average, referencing trade volume, to a straight average (equal weighting) of the carrier medians.
The change will be implemented as of 1 October 2024.
