A periodic reminder of the help available to those in trouble through Baltic related charities might be timely, as several calls received in the charities’ office recently  have resulted in help being provided to old members.

We always hope that Baltic members will contact us if ever they feel in need of assistance or that they will inform us if they know of anyone who might be  struggling with health or financial problems, and we ask all, please, to let us know if they feel any colleague or ex colleague might come into this category. This sort of information is received in complete confidence and is always followed up sensitively.  It would be sad to feel that there are people we could be helping but do not know about.

Many past and present Baltic members will have joined the Baltic Exchange Charitable Society, but for those who do not have the benefit of BECS membership, the London Shipowners and Shipbrokers Benevolent Society, active since 1852, can also respond to requests for help with same generosity and the same determination not to let any who have worked in shipping slip through the net.
