FFABA at Singapore Maritime Week and Singapore Iron Ore Week
The Baltic Exchange and FFA Brokers Association (FFABA) will be holding seminars during Singapore Maritime Week and Singapore Iron Ore Week, to promote the importance of risk management in Asia. These events will provide an opportunity to hear what is happening in the world of dry freight derivatives, future developments regarding dry indices and include presentations and discussions with brokers, traders and owners.
On Wednesday 26 April, the Singapore Exchange (SGX ) will host an FFABA Forum at the SGX Auditorium.

On Thursday 27 April, there will be a further panel as part of the Iron Ore Week Conference at the Marina Bay Sands, entitled “Freight – the crucial link in the trading and pricing of bulk commodities”.
It will consider freight rates from an iron ore production/consumption angle, changing trade patterns and the impact on shipping, changing vessel sizes and the impact on cargoes, attracting new participants and how the approach of shipowners and charterers has changed to hedging relative to iron ore.
The session will also include some ‘crystal ball gazing’ about geopolitical turbulence and impact on shipping, where are we headed in the physical and paper markets and what can we expect from the new Baltic Exchange.
Speakers include John Banaszkiewicz of FIS, Mark Jackson of the Baltic Exchange and Michael Nagler of Noble, with others to be confirmed.
