The 2023 Baltic Exchange Cricket Season has now come to a close and what a successful season it was. We played four games against Lloyds of London, Howe Robinson, Braemar and Clarksons, resulting in three wins and one loss. We can definitely look back on this season with pride. The highlight of our season was the all-day match versus Lloyds, ending in our only loss by the fine margin of just one wicket. Luckily we turned our fortunes around for the remaining three T20 matches.

It was not only a good season on the pitch but off it as well, with our social secretary (James Harris) pulling out all the stops for a fantastic evening at Sixes. These nights are fantastic for older stalwarts of the Baltic Cricket team to engage with younger members.

Now it is time to look forward to next year. We have big hopes of expanding the Baltic Exchange Cricket Team, in terms of both players and fixtures. Over the winter period, we will be looking for new players to join from both the Baltic Exchange and the shipping community, players of all abilities are welcome.  We will also be looking at playing more fixtures, most of which are after-work hours T20 fixtures. In addition, we are looking to host more social events for new recruits and old players alike.

Lastly I would like to thank everyone who helps keep the BECC running every year. The Baltic Exchange provide us with fantastic support behind the scenes, the committee members who do the day to day running of the club, organising fixtures, selecting teams and arranging grounds. Let’s hope for another fantastic season next year!
