Baltic Exchange addresses Maritime Silk Road Port Cooperation Forum Singapore Promotional Seminar

Head of Baltic Exchange Asia, Jin Yu Cheong, delivered the welcome speech at the Maritime Silk Road Port Cooperation Forum Singapore Promotional Seminar on 25 March 2025.
Speaking to a room of industry leaders and stakeholders, Jin highlighted the strong ties between the Baltic Exchange and China’s maritime sector, praising Ningbo-Zhoushan Port as a world leader in smart and sustainable port operations. He commended the port’s integration of automation, smart logistics, and green initiatives, noting its continued rise in the Xinhua-Baltic International Shipping Centre Development Index over the past decade.
“Ningbo-Zhoushan is not just growing in scale - it is truly setting new global benchmarks for innovation, sustainability, and resilience,” said Jin.
He also pointed to the port’s 2035 Plan, which includes ambitious targets for clean cargo handling, renewable energy use, and low-carbon operations, positioning it as a beacon of ecological excellence in Hangzhou Bay.
The speech concluded with a nod to the upcoming Marine Silk Road Port Forum in May, which will focus on the theme “Go Green, Go Intelligent” - a vision Baltic Exchange shares and supports through its ongoing collaboration with maritime partners in China and worldwide.
