Virtual Diploma in International Maritime Arbitration

The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) is offering a Virtual Diploma in International Maritime Arbitration diploma starting 17 November 2021. Baltic Exchange members are eligible for a 10% discount on the fee.
With specific international maritime arbitration themes and covering legislation in the APAC region and England and Wales, the Diploma is split into three parts:
Part 1: Law, Practice and Procedure of International Maritime Arbitration which looks at the legal and practical framework of international maritime arbitration
Part 2: Law of Obligations which covers:
- Relevant principles in the law of tort and the law of contract in the context of how disputes may arise and be resolved.
- Elements of the law of obligations that affect matters in civil and commercial disputes in a variety of different jurisdictions.

Part 3: Evidence, Decision Making and Award Writing on International Maritime Arbitration focuses on the processes followed by an arbitrator in:
- Defining the issues that have to be decided by an award.
- Dealing with the submissions made by the parties.
- Analysing the appropriate law.
- Evaluating the evidence.
- Applying the law to that evidence.
- Arriving at a conclusion.
- Writing a final, reasoned and enforceable award.
