The Baltic Flyfishing Society had their annual outing on 2 October at the iconic Marsh Court Beat on The Test in Hampshire, Britain and the world’s best chalk stream.

Fishers included Jolyon Wright of The Baltic, Duncan Dunn and Mark Richardson of SSY, Richard Evans of MOL and a team of four from Arrow; Ted Atkinson, Will Luther, Ed Lillingston-Price and Humphrey Coysh. After an enjoyable evening at The Greyhound in Stockbridge, the team arrived at the river no worse for wear and fished through to a one thirty lunch on the riverbank. The after lunch session went  through to sunset. The weather held apart from a few spots of rain at lunchtime and all but one hooked up with numerous fish taken up to four and a half pounds.

We must thank Ben Few Brown of www.thecountryagent.co.uk for a wonderful day out and the Baltic for generously sponsoring our riverbank picnic lunch.

One of the newer Baltic clubs, the Flyfishing Society has grown steadily with both experts and beginners. Membership of the Baltic also gives the opportunity to join our associated club The Lloyds Flyfishing Society, which has an enviable selection of fishing available.

It is also worth stating that many of the best Flyfishers are women, indeed the UK record for a rod caught Salmon (64lb) has been held by Georgina Ballantyne since 1922 and is unlikely to be be broken. The UK's second best salmon (61lb) was taken by Mrs Clementina Morison in 1924. Our club would greatly benefit from new members and we will be working with the YBA to promote membership and hope to host an introduction to flyfishing day soon.

There is no better way to spend a day than fishing on a river with friends.
