Baltic Exchange has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with North Bund Forum to serve as one of its overseas partners ahead of the North Bund Forum event in October 2024.

Janet Sykes, Chief Commercial Officer at Baltic Exchange, signed the MoU alongside the International Chamber of Shipping and Seatrade Maritime, which signed similar MoUs, as a commitment to engage in more extensive and indepth cooperation between London and Shanghai's shipping centres, such as resource sharing, event promotion, industry development and joint activities.

The MoU was signed during a Seatrade Maritime event that included a delegation from the Shanghai International Shipping Centre and North Bund Forum alongside some of London's biggest maritime counterparts, such as Baltic Exchange, Maritime London and International Chamber of Shipping.

During the event, Zhou Yin from Shanghai Municipal Transportation Commission, said "London is a world-renowned shipping center with a long history, and many of its practices and experience are something we should learn from. As the largest economic hub in China, Shanghai has always regarded shipping as one of its most important functions, and is accelerating the development toward a world-class international shipping center.”

This sentiment was echoed by Jos Standwick, CEO of Maritime London, who added, "Never has the role of leading shipping clusters and our ability to work seamlessly across borders been more important.”
